Fredrik Meijer Sculpture Garden
Meyer May House—Designed by America’s most famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, the Meyer May House was commissioned in 1908 by a prominent Grand Rapids clothier. An example of Wright’s now-famous Prairie style of architecture, it offers a rare view of a totally designed living environment just as Wright envisioned it in 1908. Voigt House—An elegant, perfectly preserved Victorian mansion built for Carl G. A. Voigt in 1895, this three-story brick mansion was finished in 1896. Members of the Voigt family lived in the home for 76 years. Reflecting life in the early 1900s, cisterns stored rainwater for washing and lamps used electricity and gas. Luncheon in a Private Home and Garden—Kathleen Schiefler is your hostess for lunch at the former Bissell mansion, located on Fisk Lake in East Grand Rapids.
Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park—Significant works of art are featured within a variety of natural settings connected by waterways, meandering paths and quiet walkways. The work of more than 30 renowned sculptors including Auguste Rodin, Aristide Maillol, Jacques Lipchitz, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, Mark di Suvero, Magdalena Abakanowicz, George Rickey, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Juan Munoz, Hanneke Beaumont, Louise Bourgeois and Mimmo Paladino are featured.
